Shao Ting-Ju

Shao, born in Taipei, Taiwan, has immersed herself in creative ceramic art for 27 years. Jo Lauria, formerly the decorative arts curator at the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art, described Shao's work as universal, humanistic, and histrionic. Lauria said the primal forces that are played out in Shao's work are human: vulnerability, folly and hubris. When staged in a Shao visual drama, these forces are buffered with a deeply felt belief in the integrity and redemption of humanity.
Her work has been displayed in 95 selected exhibitions and 12 solo exhibitions around Europe, Asia and America. More than 34 pieces of her work have been collected by museums and foundations. Since 1989, she has written articles for "Ceramic Art" in Taiwan, and "New Ceramics" in Germany since 2006. In 2001, she was selected to be a member of the International Academic of Ceramics.
